Our Principal, Kevin Li, a graduate of Applied Mathematics with 10 years' tuition experience, will be personally teaching our Mathematics and Thinking Skills classes. Kevin is a STEM specialist who co-founded Smart Dragon Academy; he previously led all renowned OC and Gifted & Talented curriculum, Maths Extension Programs and other Maths Olympiad programs at Smart Dragon Academy.
Forming the backbone of Superminds Academy is an expert team of teachers with unparalleled experience. Altogether, our teachers have seen thousands of students through the OC, Selective / Scholarship, Gifted & Talented, and transition to high school process. This experience has equipped our team with an intimate understanding of each test type, what candidates schools are looking for, and how to maximise each student’s potential on their own terms.
We cater to students from Years 0-10, with a tried and tested curriculum that we have updated according to each exam reformat over the course of 8 years. Our teachers, many of whom have themselves sat for the same exams, demonstrate a unique empathy for our students and a deep commitment to their improvement.
As part of our commitment to setting students up for lifelong academic success, we have designed an accelerated curriculum that is 1-2 years ahead of nationwide educational standards. Students are exposed to challenging material on top of refining their foundational skills; this equips students with both a mastery of core skills and a unique grasp of curriculum at a level years ahead of their peers. Students are assigned take-home work for repeated exposure to new concepts, allowing this knowledge to form a part of their long-term memory, where it will be useful years into the future.
At Superminds Academy, we believe in the holistic development of each student. What we’re teaching is much more than the curriculum itself — it’s learning to think. We encourage students to develop critical thinking skills, a proactive approach to problem solving, creativity, and a natural attitude of curiosity and inquiry. These are lifelong skills that will boost students’ performance inside and outside of a school setting, helping them become more well-rounded and balanced individuals. Finally, our mission is to encourage a genuine love for learning and a deep interest in our subjects of English and Maths. We hope that we’re fostering the next generation of Superminds in Law, Medicine, Business, Engineering, Journalism and more.
Our small class sizes ensure that teachers can cater to students’ individual learning needs in the classroom. Our teachers are actively involved in the improvement of every student, so lessons include feedback opportunities on submitted work (particularly writing) and informal check-in points with parents. We typically conduct placement exams at students’ point of entry so that they are matched with a teacher and class level that best serves their learning needs. We have also built in formal parent-teacher interviews, where parents are able to understand their child’s progress and key suggestions for improvement.
